AFR(a)ID addresses a lesser known eating disorder called AFRID. This acronym stands for Avoidant Food Restrictive Intake Disorder. The dress is formless and made from a plain linen fabric to remove attention away from the physical body. Instead the moths form around the skirt portion of the dress and each symbolize a year I have dealt with an eating disorder. AFR(a)ID also conceals large side pockets that reinforce the secrecy of food and hiding things to avoid the feelings of shame.
